These days, I enjoy early mornings. I think twice before heading out for a buddies’ night out because whenever I do, the next day reminds me I’m no longer the 21-year old fresh-out-of-uni ball of energy. Not because I don’t want to, just because I know how I’ll feel the next day. On the other hand, who can argue with Netflix and popcorn on a Friday night? Yes, I’m partially aware that I am no longer a spring chicken. But in my early 30’s, a part of me is still stubborn, and feels as if I can still live ignorantly in youthful bliss and carefree ways. Which is why I take natural supplements everyday that help me not only feel, but also look young and energetic.

So which vitamins help us to keep looking, and more importantly, feeling young?

1. Vitamin E

A particularly known antioxidant that prevents diseases and fights free radicals. But have you heard of its anti-aging properties? Signs of aging such as cognitive decline, insulin resistance, cardiovascular disease, cataract, and cancer may be reduced by supplementation with Vitamin E, helping you enjoy a longer life: illness-free. What’s more, natural Vitamin E is more potent than its synthetic brother, and even amps up its powerful properties if taken with other antioxidants such as Vitamin C.

2. Vitamin C

Known as the most common antioxidant in the skin, it prevents skin damage in the skin and body and comes from fruits and vegetables. However, it is often forgotten that it can also make you feel younger by simply and naturally giving you a boost of energy. Since taking Vitamin C, I hardly get sick. It also aids in converting the food into energy so I’m always ready to tackle the day bright and early.

3. Collagen

Not that I’m getting wrinkly (yet), but I definitely believe prevention is key. For this, I take collagen. Collagen is the most abundant protein found in the human body. It takes care of increasing skin elasticity (bye, bye wrinkles!) and improving hair strength. Also known as the glue of the body, it also helps improve holding connective tissue in place.

4. Biotin

Having difficulty losing or even just maintaining weight? I remember the good ol’ days when I was able to eat a ton, without hearing a peep from the weighing scale! Nowadays though, diet and exercise are a must, as well as taking Biotin. Biotin does a ton of good for the body – it strengthens hair and nails, helps in the metabolism of amino acids and carbohydrates, promoting a healthy metabolism, is critically involved in the formation of fatty acids and glucose, and stops skin from aging.

5. Magnesium Citrate

This magic supplement is one that I swear by. My overall health has improved despite getting older, keeping my bones strong and healthy, and lowering my chances of developing osteoporosis. It also helps those suffering from asthma by regulating breathing and relaxing the bronchial muscles used to breathe. It contributes to muscle growth and athletic performance, thus increasing the body’s energy production. It also prevents anxiety, fear, nervousness, restlessness and irritability. What more could you ask for? It’s also amazing for helping your muscles recover after working out, so it’s key for those weight lifters amongst you.

These supplements, along with proper diet and exercise, has definitely done wonders for me. I know that nights out will still be up for deliberation, but during the day, my work productivity and focus has never been better. I am much more alert and active when I go for a run or do a session at the gym. I also feel so much better that these supplements feed my skin with nothing but the good stuff and delay those dreaded wrinkles (until I’m 50, perhaps?). Obviously some people need a different blend of supplements specific to their goals and lifestyles – if you’d like to find out more take our quiz today to find out what’s recommended for you.
